The battle of Fayetteville in 1863 killed dozens and injured even more. Many soldiers were able to seek safety inside local merchants up and down Dickson Street. Stunned into action by the sounds of approaching gunfire by the Confederates, Col. Harrison quickly formed his men into a line that ran or crawled from Pub to Pub through the heart of today’s Dickson Street to safety, leaving many injured or dead. Along the way, they emptied every Beer Keg on the block.
Ghosts of the fallen have been known to linger thru out the years and can be seen every Halloween walking Pub to Pub hoping to re enact their chance to survive…. and drink beer.
