WKRP’s Howard Hesseman Dies At 81
Howard Hesseman, veteran comedy actor most known for his role on WKRP in Cincinnati as DJ Johnny Fever, has died at the age of 81 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California due to complications from a past surgery.
Hesseman, a former real radio DJ in the 1960s was cast on WKRP in Cincinnati as DJ Johnny Fever as a last-minute replacement for Richard Libertini and had been nominated two times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy.
Howard Hessman also was known for his short role as an out-of-work actor who had turned a history teacher on the ABC comedy Head of the Class as Charlie Moore.
In addition to his wife, actress and acting teacher Caroline Ducrocq, Hessman leaves behind their 3 godchildren Grace, Hamish and Chet.
